Autumn Open Studio

For more than two decades, the bonfire has been an important part of my life as an artist. I spend much of my working life making things alone, so I value the way the bonfire brings people together - friends, neighbours and generations of people from the village, all making something collectively.

Each year I design and build a large wooden sculpture for the carnival, knowing that after months of work it will exist for just one night before being set alight. There is something rather wonderful about making something carefully and patiently, not to last, but to become part of a shared experience.
