1066 Country Walk
Keith’s contribution to the 1066 Country Walk project further exemplifies his deeply site-responsive approach.
Commissioned in 2020 by Rother District Council as part of a programme to enrich the 1066 Country Walk, a long-distance route running through East Sussex between Pevensey and Rye. His works drew directly from the surrounding environment, both materially and conceptually. Echoing the layered histories of the land while remaining grounded in the physical presence of the timber itself, these sculptures do not sit apart as landmarks, but instead feel discovered along the path, as if shaped by time and place rather than installed.
Through projects such as this, Keith has become a trusted and sought-after sculptor across the region, known for his ability to create work that resonates equally within public settings and private commissions. His reputation rests not only on craftsmanship, but on a sensitivity to context which allows each piece to belong fully to its environment and to those who encounter it.
